The International Year of Astronomy 2009 is the commemoration of the momentous occasion of 400 years back when Galileo Galeli, the Italian astronomer turned one of his telescopes to the night sky & made remarkable discoveries that changed the world.

The aim of IYA 2009 is to stimulate interest worldwide especially amongst young people in Astronomy & Science under 1 central theme " THE UNIVERSE, YOURS TO DISCOVER".
