Gram Swaraj Abhiyan-II

Under aegis of PMO, Govt. of India is observing ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (Phase II), also termed as Extended GSA or eGSA, starting from 1st June to 15th August 2018. Gram Swaraj Abhiyan is a special initiative for 47268 villages having population of more than 1000 under the Aspirational 117 Districts identified (by NITI Ayog) with large number of poor House Holds in which a special campaign called ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Gaon Sabka Vikas (SSSGSV)’ where Saturation of 7 programs of GOI are planned. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is one of the 7 programs and under this all the beneficiaries entitled for the scheme are released LPG connection in the identified Villages. The other 6 Schemes are Saubhagya (PM Sehaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana), Ujala Scheme, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush. Sectors like Education, Health, Nutrition, Agriculture and Skills need to carry out sector-specific activities in the villages covered under the aspirational districts.

During the campaign eGSA, efforts would be made to cover not only the identified eligible households for extending benefits of PMUY, but also, regular LPG connections would be released to the interested applicants not entitled for the Govt Scheme, besides conducting LPG Panchayats for spreading Safety awareness and encouraging usage of clean fuel over the traditional Bio Mass for cooking.

OMCs have completed the village to village mapping as a first step to kick start the campaign and BPCL has been assigned around 11,000 villages on the basis of proximity of existing BPCL distributors to the villages identified under eGSA.

Riding on the drive of the flagship scheme of the central Government BPCL has enrolled 131 Lakh new LPG connections in the rural areas ever since launch of PMUY in May, 2016.
