Deepika Kumari - The Aim Beyond Arrows
Best BPCL Sportsperson (Female), 2024-25
In archery, where precision meets patience, few names command as much respect as Deepika
Kumari, a symbol of quiet strength, discipline, and unwavering focus. Her journey from a small-
town girl to one of India’s most decorated archers is a story of grit and grace.
“I was 13 when I joined the archery academy,” she recalls. “My family wasn’t financially stable,
and the academy offered everything free of cost. I joined without realizing it would define my
life.” What began as circumstance soon became her calling.
For Deepika, every match holds meaning. “There isn’t one favourite competition, each brings a
new challenge and lesson. Sometimes I’ve lost after playing my best, sometimes fear pushed
me to perform better. Each moment taught me something valuable.”
Being named Best BPCL Sportsperson (Female) at the BPCL Sports Meet 2024-25 was a proud
milestone. “It was my first Sports Meet, and I didn’t know what to expect,” she says. “BPCL’s
support has been incredible, they truly care about athletes and our growth, both on and off the
field.”
Her motivation remains simple yet powerful: “I want to win medals in every competition, World
Cup, Asian Championships, Olympics, I can’t stop until I achieve that.”
To young athletes, her message is clear: “Talent alone isn’t enough. Be patient, work hard, and
never give up, success will follow.”
From a determined teenager with a bow to one of India’s most inspiring champions, Deepika
Kumari’s journey reminds us that true victory lies in persistence, in never losing sight of the
dream.
