PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for BPCL’s ₹1,950 Cr CGD Project in West Bengal, Powering 65 Lakh Lives with Clean Energy.

A landmark moment for BPCL as Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji laid the foundation stone for the ₹1,950 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in West Bengal’s Bankura and Purulia districts, reinforcing India’s push towards clean and affordable energy.

The project will bring Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 5.55 lakh households, along with 250+ commercial and 35+ industrial connections, and set up 29 CNG stations for vehicular fuel. Scheduled for completion by March 2030, it aligns with the Minimum Work Program targets set by PNGRB.

With an expected reduction of 191 TMT of greenhouse gas emissions—equivalent to planting nearly 87 lakh trees over 25 years—the project will also generate more than 15 lakh man-days of employment and benefit a population of over 65 lakh in the region.

This milestone underscores BPCL’s commitment to building a robust gas infrastructure and advancing India’s journey toward energy independence and environmental sustainability.
