Every high-performance machine has a target - and most never reach it. And that doesn’t happen because of the fuel.
For years, India's sports bikes and performance cars have been running on petrol that simply wasn't built for them. The gap between what these machines are capable of and what they actually deliver exists because of this mismatch. Speed 100 is here to close that gap.
Speed 100 is BPCL’s ultra-premium petrol with a 100 Research Octane Number (RON) — the highest grade of petrol commercially available at Indian fuel stations today. RON, or Research Octane Number, is simply a measure of how well a fuel handles pressure without igniting prematurely. The higher the number, the better suited it is for powerful, high-performance engines.
Launched during India Energy Week 2026, Speed 100 marks a significant step forward in India’s evolving fuel landscape.
BPCL Speed 100 is not just a rebranded version of BPCL's earlier Speed petrol, which has been around since 2002. Speed 100 is an entirely new formulation and a 100-octane rating, putting it in a league of its own.
Standard petrol carries an octane rating of 91. For everyday vehicles like the city commuter bike or standard hatchback, that's more than enough. But high-performance machines are different. Sports bikes, turbocharged cars, and luxury vehicles operate at far higher compression ratios and heat. In these conditions, lower-octane fuel can ignite prematurely, and this phenomenon is called engine knocking.
Speed 100's 100 RON rating helps prevent this premature ignition, ensuring clean and controlled combustion. The fuel ignites at exactly the right moment, allowing the engine to operate at its intended performance level.
And the advantages don't stop at octane. Speed 100 is built around BPCL's proprietary Speed Additive Technology, which actively cleans injectors, intake valves, and combustion chambers across both GDI and MPFI engine systems. A built-in friction modifier also forms a protective layer between piston rings and cylinder liners, reducing wear, improving smoothness, and extending the life of critical components.
Speed 100 is engineered for machines that demand it, like high-compression sports bikes, turbocharged cars, and luxury vehicles with high-displacement engines.
Speed 100 is safe to use in any petrol-powered vehicle. While regular vehicles may not experience dramatic performance gains, they can still benefit from cleaner combustion and improved engine protection. However, the meaningful performance gains with the sharper throttle response, stronger peak power, and smoother idle, which will be most noticeable in engines built to run on premium fuel.

Speed 100 is currently available at select BPCL outlets across ten cities, with a nationwide rollout underway.
