In most Indian homes, the LPG cylinder is an integral part of daily life. It energises everything from morning chai to late-night dinners. While our homes, lifestyles and expectations have evolved, the cylinder itself has largely remained the same. And that’s where Bharatgas Lite comes in. It is designed for the needs of modern India.
Bharatgas Lite is BPCL’s next-generation LPG cylinder, which brings together ease of handling, improved safety and a smarter design, in one thoughtful upgrade. It is not just a new cylinder but a smarter way to experience everyday cooking with Bharatgas.
Bharatgas Lite is BPCL’s advanced LPG cylinder made using the composite material instead of conventional mild steel. Launched on January 28, 2026, at the India Energy Week in Goa. Bharatgas Lite is over 50% lighter than a traditional steel cylinder, making it much easier to lift, move and install — especially in homes where convenience matters just as performance.
The tagline says it best: Naye Bharat Ka Naya Cylinder, which translates to a new cylinder for a new India. One that means less strain, easier kitchen management and a much more comfortable everyday experience.
The good news is that Bharatgas Lite is not limited to just first-time users.
It is available for:
For new domestic customers, the registration and documentation process remains similar to a regular LPG connection with a security deposit of ₹2,500.
BPCL has also introduced a cylinder swapping option for existing eligible customers, which is for making the shift to the existing Bharatgas customers can exchange their conventional cylinders by paying an incremental security deposit of ₹300 per cylinder, helping with immediate replacement. Currently, Bharatgas Lite is a non-subsidized product.
When it comes to cooking fuel, convenience matters, but safety matters even more.
One of the most important aspects of Bharatgas Lite is its focus on improved protection. BPCL has introduced the cylinder with features that aim at improving user confidence, including an explosion-resistant design and construction that helps to reduce issues related to corrosion and external damage.
And that’s what makes this innovation meaningful. It is more than innovation that responds to real and everyday concerns inside Indian homes.
