As suggested by the scientists social distancing is the only option of breaking the chain of novel corona virus in any community. Social distancing also termed as “physical distancing” means keeping a safe space between yourself and another person. To practice social distancing, you need to stay on the distance of about two arms from the next person in both indoor and outdoor spaces. The whole world is going through an unprecedented time because of the pandemic of COVID-19. In this situation of the pandemic, a large population is working, studying, and shopping from home to stay safe and for constantly running the lifecycle. Being one of the most trusted engines oil and petrol brands in India, employees at BPCL are also concerned about the safety of their consumers in the time of this pandemic situation. Since the lockdown period is over and vehicles are back on road, the biggest fear that drowns the mind of a rider is bill and money exchange at the petrol stations, the traditional methods of exchange are a threat to the health of both the consumers and the employees working there.
It now becomes the responsibility of every sector to contribute to the safety of citizens and their consumers, keeping the safety of both in mind, BPCL as a responsible brand has come up with a contactless mode of payment known as NFC in six metro cities in its first phase. Other than contactless payment options already available in India, this quick ‘tap and go’ facility also helps consumers to keep their health confidential, as it never leaves their hand.
Apart from the reduction of fear of virus spread NFC also adds one more step towards the digitalization of money in India. It overrules all the chances of a consumer coming in contact with anyone or anything at the BPCL stations. This contactless debit and credit cards get operated through Near Field Communication. NFC is a technology that enables the devices to use radio-frequency identification which can establish contact while in proximity. It can be linked with both Bluetooth or WiFi which allows communication between the objects which are NFC-enabled at a minimum distance of 4 centimeters.
For using a contactless card, what all you need to do is, you will have to tap the card at the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) reader and then just enter your PIN. For this don’t you have to hand over the card to the merchant standing there on the Fuel Station for swiping or dipping into the EDC reader.
This method is less cumbersome than traditional modes of payments resulting in reduced consumer time during the filling process. The installation of NFC technology has made the stations hassle and corona free aiding to the mental security of its consumers.
Till the time we have covered the total number of 521 Fuel Stations at six metro cities for contactless, Near Field Communication enabled payment options. So from now, you can select NFC enabled BPCL Fuel Stations in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and can make quick contactless and safe payments using your NFC enabled credit or debit card.
