          Celebrating Olympic Day

          with Indian Sporting Icons

To commemorate Olympic Day on June 23, 2025,
BPCL Sports hosted a powerful and inspiring virtual
interaction that brought together three of India’s most
iconic Olympians, Padma Shri Anju Bobby George,
Padma Shri Deepika Kumari, and Arjuna Awardee
Atanu Das. The event celebrated not just the Olympic
spirit but also the stories of grit, discipline, and
dedication that define a champion’s journey.
Mr. Deepak Jain, CGM (Sports), HRS, set the tone with
a heartfelt welcome, acknowledging the incredible
contributions of the three athletes to India’s global
sporting legacy, from Anju Bobby George’s historic
bronze at the World Athletics Championships, to
Deepika Kumari’s meteoric rise in international archery,
and Atanu Das’s calm composure on the Olympic
          archery field.
The conversation, anchored by Ms. Bhavana Menon,
offered an intimate, behind-the-scenes look into
the athletes’ personal journeys. Anju Bobby George
spoke about her modest beginnings in Kerala, the
role of relentless practice, and her coach-husband
Robert Bobby George’s unshakable belief in her talent.
Deepika Kumari opened up about battling self-doubt,
the role of inner resilience, and how she leans on
mental conditioning and self-talk before a big match.
Atanu Das provided a thoughtful perspective on
preparation, routine, and the power of visualization in
          high-pressure tournaments like the Olympics.
The interaction was not just about achievements,
it was about the people behind the podiums. From
dealing with setbacks to pushing boundaries, the
stories shared struck a deep chord with the audience.
More than a celebration, the session was a reminder of
what the Olympic Day stands for, unity, perseverance,
and the pursuit of excellence. Through this meaningful
initiative, BPCL reaffirmed its commitment to
championing sporting values and inspiring its
workforce through the lives of India’s best.

The athletes also encouraged the audience to
embrace sport in daily life, highlighting how discipline
and determination from the field can translate to any
          profession.
As the session closed, it left everyone with a renewed
belief, that with consistency and courage, anyone can
strive for greatness, both on and off the field.
